Position: Financial Data Journalism & Content Research Working hours: Part-time (at least 20 hours) or Full-time, 40 hours per week Tools required: Solid PC/Mac and reliable/fast internet connection. We will need to have 3x weekly short video calls to give feedback and exchange ideas. Forbes Technologies was formed in 2019 to provide technology-based solutions that fuel the growth of rapidly expanding Forbes Marketplace brands. Project Overview: You will be working with our content manager to compile data related to financial and insurance products and services. The data is maintained on spreadsheets which provides the editorial team with the necessary data to produce engaging and accurate content. Some of the data also feeds into a database which fuels calculators and automated content updates. Upon starting, you will begin your journey of deep learning about the universe of financial products that are featured on Forbes Marketplace. Your job includes these functions: • Populate data points on a master spreadsheet with data sourced from various bank and financial websites • Find unpublished data via phone calls, live chat or email to financial companies • Quality Control: Perform random cross-checks of data vs. source URLs • Proofread and maintain proper formatting according to the specification sheet • Note any discrepancies, non-conforming data, or other issues and discuss with the content manager • You will work with data for financial products including loans (auto/personal/student/business), mortgages, savings/checking accounts, credit cards, insurance, online brokerage, etc • Coordinate with the content manager to deliver data sets within a set schedule Required Training, Skills & Experience: • English language skills: Native or near-native speaker of UK or US English • Proficiency and prior work experience with data collection, data journalism, or content research • Comfortable command of MS Excel, MS Word, as well as Google Sheets and Docs • Solid internet research skills • Basic understanding of personal & business financial products such as credit cards, loans, banking, investments, etc • Ability to navigate and maintain large amounts of data within an organized structure Extra points for candidates who: • Have experience working within a distributed team in a mid-size company • Have completed some courses or formal education related to finance, data, or accounting • Are very interested in, and follow trends related to, personal & business financial products such as credit cards, loans, banking, investments, etc. Character requirements: 1.
