Blue Heron is a research firm specializing in providing qualitative due diligence to a wide range of clients. We apply the fundamentals of investigative and business journalism – detailed interviews and meticulous public records searches – to uncover the unvarnished truth about a company from developments on the factory floor to strategic level reputational and growth prospects. Blue Heron is looking for long-term freelancers to transcribe 2-person interviews discussing a variety of industries like finance, healthcare, technology, etc. All final transcripts are edited by the transcriptionist and we accept NO VERBATIM transcripts. Transcriptionist will need to regularly look up executive names, industry terms, pharmaceutical drug names, and acronyms to ensure correct spelling. Freelancers set their own schedules, but preferably can commit to at least 400-500 assigned minutes per week. Rush projects occur from time to time, so availability to turn interviews around during normal business hours as soon as possible after they are assigned is preferred. Applicants should be able to flawlessly and accurately transcribe speakers with one of the following heavy accents: Indian, French, Scottish/Irish, Scandinavian, German, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, South African, Eastern European. Process requires applicant to take an unpaid test to evaluate the quality of their work. That is followed by a paid 2-week trial period.
