Qualifications High school or equivalent (Preferred) Dispatching: 1 year (Preferred) Customer Service: 2 years (Preferred) Full Job Description Up and coming trucking assistance service seeking detail orientated Dispatch applicants to join our team. Candidates must be professional, able to speak and write fluent english, outgoing, and be willing to handle a large volume of phone calls, while keeping a positive attitude, and working independently. The successful applicants will join a fun team dedicated to the growth of our company, and offering our clients the highest levels of dispatching and customer service. The main responsibility of the dispatcher is to go on a cargo website called a "loadboard", and find and call a shipper/supplier with the best paying rate to move their cargo. You must negotiate with the shipper to get the best rate for our trucker, then call the trucker and let him know where to go to pick up this load. You will be expected to; manage anywhere between 5-15 trucks per shift, ensure that the truckers only get the best paying loads (you will have a monthly $$$ goal you must keep up with to ensure our truckers are getting the best dispatcher performance), you must always have a load ready to be picked up for your truckers before they’re done delivering their current load, you must be ready to get emergency calls from the truckers and provide for them the appropriate roadside assistance service, have decent-great negotiation skills to get as good a rate as possible on the loads you find, do small tasks like writing invoices, storing data, and other office-like tasks. To sum it up: The dispatcher is a middleman role between the trucker and the shipper, that entails booking a cargo load for a trucker, then before they arrive at the destination you must have another load ready for pickup in that area. You must always have a cargo load ready to be picked up for your trucker before they arrive at their current destination. Some truckers prefer to stay in a general area (Northeast, midwest, south, etc), so you will keep track of the trucker’s regional preferences and find the best loads for them in that specific area. You will be provided the trucks’ dimesions and verify that the load you found fits in that truck before you call the shipper. You will be trained in all the different types of cargo trailers and types of cargo loads. The great thing about this gig is once you book a load for a trucker, and book their next load in that area, you won’t have to worry about that truck for another 4-12 hours depending on the trip’s locations. These truckers are traveling the entire continental United States, so carrying a load from New York to Florida for example could take over 16 hours.
