Accountabilities: – Prepares accurate and timely financial data that impact the general ledger – Assists in ensuring that accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls are met with integrity and within the objectives set forth by management – Assist the Controller in maintaining all accounting records of the company and its subsidiaries. – Participates in the monthly close process – Prepares journal entries on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. – Prepares property close folders on a monthly basis. – Identifies and researches financial reporting and tax-related issues. – Participates in monthly/quarterly/yearly debt compliance and lender reporting. – Participates in the general ledger, fixed assets, collections, accounts payable, and cash management areas. – Reads and interprets loan and lease documents. – Participates in due diligence projects for potential acquisitions. Participates in compliance with local, state, and federal tax reporting – Ad hoc financial analysis – Other duties may be assigned under the direction of the VP of Accounting and Finance Education, Training, and Qualifications – Must have a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent and 5 years experience as a staff accountant. – Experience in the residential property management industry is required. – Appfolio experience is preferred. – Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is required – Must be computer savvy and be able to identify, learn and implement new software programs to improve efficiency.
